Bridge cameras look like DSLRs, but in reality, they’re more like large compacts with a much more powerful zoom. They don’t have an interchangeable and there aren’t many settings. Their sensor is smaller than those on DSLR or mirrorless cameras, and often even smaller than those on advanced compacts. They’re heavy and often take average quality photos, so there’s not much point in taking one on a long trip.
We carried out a large survey between 19th and 24th April 2023, amongst 1,212 people who had gone on a long trip. We asked them many questions about the devices they used to take their photos. Learn more about our methodology
